STEP TWO How Will You Use The Room
Will you be using your living room primarily for entertaining, or will it be a place for family activities? Do you entertain big groups or little groups? How do people move through the room? If you hired a professional interior designer, they would probably start by asking you a lot of tough questions about the way you use your house. Many clients, one designer says, want to start by thinking about physical things when they should be asking themselves how they behave in their home. Function comes first, she says — you can make a good-looking image out of almost anything.
